DoorDash bid dayparting
DoorDash Bid Dayparting adjusts Sponsored Products placement and keyword bids under linked campaigns every hour based on the day, hour, and bid multipliers you configure. Use it to increase competitiveness during high-conversion periods or lower bids during less efficient periods.
With Bid Dayparting, you can:
Set different bid multipliers by day of week and hour of day
Apply the same time-slot bid multiplier to eligible placements and keywords under linked campaigns
Configure consecutive time slots in bulk
Restore base bids when the rule is disabled
1. How It Works
Bid Dayparting calculates the current bid using the following formula:
Current Bid = Base Bid × Bid Multiplier
Unconfigured time slots use
1.00by default.1.00keeps the base bid unchanged.A value greater than
1.00increases the bid.A value lower than
1.00decreases the bid.Calculated values support up to two decimal places and remain subject to DoorDash platform limits.
2. Feature Availability
DoorDash Bid Dayparting is currently in limited rollout. If you cannot see this rule, contact your Customer Success Manager to confirm whether the feature is available to your account.
3. Create a Bid Dayparting Rule
On the Automation Rules page:
1. Click Create Rule.
2. Select DoorDash and the advertiser.
3. Select Bid Dayparting.
4. Enter the template name.
5. Select the execution time zone.
6. Configure time-slot bid multipliers and save the rule.
The execution time zone applies to every campaign linked to the template. After you edit the execution time zone, the new setting takes effect from the next rule execution.
4. Configure Bid Multipliers by Time Slot
On the dayparting panel, set bid multipliers by day of week and hour of day:
Click an individual time slot to set a multiplier.
Drag across consecutive time slots to apply the same multiplier in bulk.
Edit an existing time slot to overwrite its previous multiplier.
Click Reset All to clear all configured time slots.
5. Link Campaigns
Bid Dayparting uses the campaign as both the association and effective scope. After saving the template, select the campaigns on which the rule should run.
Bid Dayparting does not let you drill down and select a specific placement or keyword.
The rule applies the current time-slot bid multiplier to eligible placements and keywords under linked campaigns.
Ad groups that use DoorDash Auto Bidding are still skipped.
A campaign can be linked to only one DoorDash Bid Dayparting template.
Note: A keyword-specific bid overrides the Search placement bid, but Bid Dayparting does not let you select or exclude an individual placement or keyword.
6. When the Rule Takes Effect
Bid Dayparting runs every hour and usually applies the latest settings from the next top-of-hour execution window.
For example, if you edit the bid multiplier for 14:00–18:00 at 10:20:
The system does not recalculate time slots that ran before 10:00.
The new settings apply in the next eligible top-of-hour execution windows.
7. Base Bids, Synchronization, and Restoration
While the rule is running, it adjusts the current bid and uses the base bid for subsequent calculations and restoration.
When you disable the rule, unlink an object, or delete the template, Xnurta attempts to restore the base bid.
After you enable Bid Dayparting, bid changes made in DoorDash for targets under the linked campaigns no longer sync back to Xnurta.
Note: Manage bids in Xnurta while Bid Dayparting is running to prevent changes from DoorDash Ads Manager or a third-party platform from being overwritten in a later execution cycle.
8. DoorDash-Specific Limitations
8.1 Auto Bidding
If an ad group uses DoorDash Auto Bidding, Bid Dayparting skips that ad group. It does not modify Auto Bidding settings such as minimum ROAS.
8.2 Platform Bid Limits
DoorDash placement bid ranges may vary by country and placement type. If a calculated value is below or above the permitted range, Xnurta uses the nearest writable boundary value.
8.3 Objects with a Bid Update in Progress
DoorDash updates bids at the ad group level. If an ad group still has a bid update in progress, the current cycle may not submit another bid change for that ad group. At the next scheduled run, the system reads the latest platform state and recalculates the bid.
9. Compatibility with Other Rules
If Performance-Based Bid Adjustment and Bid Dayparting both match the same object in the same cycle, Performance-Based Bid Adjustment takes priority and Bid Dayparting is skipped for that cycle.
Budget Dayparting runs independently from Bid Dayparting.
A campaign cannot be linked to two Bid Dayparting templates at the same time.
10. Recommendations
Prioritize campaigns with clear intraday traffic patterns.
When enabling the rule for the first time, start with multipliers close to
1.00and observe a complete daily cycle before making larger adjustments. Before linking a campaign, review its bid structure. A keyword-specific bid overrides the Search placement bid, but Bid Dayparting does not let you select or exclude an individual placement or keyword.
11. FAQ
Q: Why did a bid change during an unconfigured time slot?
A: Unconfigured time slots use 1.00, so the system recalculates the current bid from the base bid. If Performance-Based Bid Adjustment previously changed the base bid, the final value may also change.
Q: Why didn't some placement or keyword bids change?
A: Bid Dayparting processes eligible objects under linked campaigns. Possible reasons include: (1) the ad group uses DoorDash Auto Bidding; (2) the placement is not enabled; (3) the keyword is not currently writable or is no longer returned by the platform; or (4) a bid update is already in progress for the object.
Q: Why is a keyword bid different from the Search placement bid?
A: A DoorDash keyword-specific bid overrides the Search placement bid, so a keyword may use a different final bid.
Q: Why is the final bid different from the formula result?
A: If the calculated bid is outside DoorDash platform limits, Xnurta uses the nearest permitted minimum or maximum value.
Q: Does editing a rule recalculate past time slots?
A: No. The new settings take effect from the next eligible execution window and do not recalculate past time slots.
Q: What happens to bids when I disable the rule?
A: Xnurta attempts to restore the base bid for objects controlled by Bid Dayparting. Platform API or synchronization status may affect restoration. Contact your Customer Success Manager if a bid is not restored.
